At Portucale, we believe that travel can be more than just discovery. Travel can also contribute. To nature, to local communities, and to the preservation of what makes Portugal so special.

Our walking tours take you to places where nature is still raw, pure, and unspoiled. It is precisely these areas that deserve protection. That is why we have chosen to actively contribute to nature restoration in Portugal.

Our collaboration with Rewilding Portugal

For every booking, we donate a fixed amount of 25 € on Rewilding PortugalThis independent non-profit organization has been dedicated to the restoration of wild nature in Portugal since 2019, with a strong focus on the north and interior of the country. In areas such as the Greater Côa Valley, Riba-Côa, and Beira Alta, Rewilding Portugal works to restore natural ecosystems that have come under pressure due to depopulation and land abandonment.

Their approach focuses on rewilding: giving space to natural processes once again. This includes restoring landscapes, strengthening biodiversity, and creating habitats for iconic species such as the black stork and the Iberian wolf.

Why this fits perfectly with Portucale

Many of our trips take place in precisely these lesser-known, authentic regions. Areas where you can still find silence, where traditions live on, and where nature has room to breathe.
By partnering with Rewilding Portugal, we ensure that these landscapes are not only preserved but also become stronger and more resilient. In this way, as a traveler, you contribute directly to:

  • the restoration of biodiversity
  • protection of wild animals and ecosystems
  • sustainable development of rural regions
  • combating depopulation in the interior

Travel with impact

When you travel with Portucale, you leave behind more than just footprints. You contribute to a future where nature and people live together in balance.

A small gesture per booking, with a big impact in the long term.
